Maternity Photos

First off, congratulations! This is such an exciting time for you and your family. I want to start by taking a minute to thank you for choosing Blue Line Photography MN to capture these memories for you that will last you a lifetime. My hope is that no matter when you look at these photos you will remember this special time in your life.

I want to take a minute to explain my photography style. I am very informal and relaxed. This helps to set the scene of what you can expect during my photoshoots. I like to do a mixture of lifestyle (posed) shots along with candid shots. I feel that catching candid shots shows more of who you are especially when you don't know that I am taking a photo of you this helps to remove the nervousness that your feeling. What I want to do is capture the emotions and feelings you have during this special time as well as you.

When should I take maternity photos? The best time to do your maternity photos is between 32 and 35 weeks when your bump is beautifully round. Timing is different for every woman. But I do recommend not leaving it to late as you never know when the baby might come. The best times to do a maternity shoot is earlier in the morning to midmorning or later in the evening.

Where do you want your maternity photos taken? As a on location photographer I will either come to your home or meet you at a location of your choice. If you do not want to do it at your home but don't know of a good location I have some ideas as well whether its at a park, walking trail, rustic country road, beach or a more urban setting. That's one nice thing of living in the beautiful northland in Minnesota.

How long will it take?  You can plan on 1-2 hours for a complete maternity session.

What will we do? When we meet at our location, we’ll chat a bit about some ideas you may have, some ideas I have, and other important details. You may be nervous, but you really don’t have to be because I like to do things very informal. I’m very easy to get along with and will may you comfortable soon enough. We’ll walk around a bit to different parts of the location. I’ll stop once in awhile, ask you to do “something” or stand a certain way, and I’ll snap some photos. You don’t need to be worried about what to do, how to smile, or how to stand. I got it covered! Let the camera and I do the work.

To change or not to change? Feel free to bring 1 to 2 different clothing changes! Before we start photographing, we’ll talk about what clothing you brought, different clothing looks best in different settings. Remember to think of the location you are at and if you will have a place to change as well.

Who should I bring? it's up to you whether you want to do the maternity shoot by yourself or include your significant other and / or children. Or if you would like to bring the whole family along. We can do a mixture of solo shots of you and your bump and some with your family. I always encourage on all of my photoshoots to bring your pet along if you would like to as long as it's friendly, lo.

When coming for your maternity photo shoot please remember to bring things that show “you”. Some things to consider -

Bump: do you want your bump covered or exposed? Or a mixture of both?

What to wear: The main thing is to be comfortable, we want you relaxed during the shoot as this will show in the photos. This is another reason I like to make my shoots as information as I can. Consider what type of shoot you would like whether it's more posed or more of a lifestyle shoot. Other things to consider is if you are willing to get dirty (sitting on the ground) or wet (kneeling or sitting in a lake). One other thing to remember is if you are wanting some photos with your bump out not to wear anything to tight as it can leave a mark on your skin.

Props: Do you want to bring any props for the shoot? Maybe a teddy bear, a cute tiny pair of baby shoes or the ultra sound scan if your new arrival has an older sibling.

Creams: If you choose to do a beach location and you will be wearing sunscreen I ask that you please apply the sunscreen a couple of hours prior to the photoshoot so that it has a chance to absorb into your skin and the skin will not be oily or shiny.

PETS

Do you have a pet that you would like included in your photos? It doesn’t matter what type of photo shoot you are having. If you have a pet and would like your pet included in the photo shoot we would be happy to include them. We are very pet friendly and love photographing animals as well.
